JET - Mirage Hotel
The  Light Group takes off, launching Mirage’s new makeover.

Facts: Opened Dec 31, 2005
15,000 square feet, Three distinct rooms
Managed by Light Group (Light, Caramel, Mist, Jet East [NY], Marquis [NY])

Overview: After years of success with their venues in the Bellagio, MGM-Mirage called on The Light Group (LG) to bring a much needed new look to the entertainment offerings at Mirage Hotel. Using the platform of their highly successful nightclub LIGHT, and their upscale dining experience FIX, LG essentially cloned themselves with JET and STACK (respectively) at the Mirage.

JET has the high end, table service feel of Light, but on a much larger scale. JET also added additional rooms, to give partiers multiple choices of music genre (house, hip hop, rock, pop,…), simulating a multi-club feel that has become the trend.

While JET’s ambiance is trendy and impressive, it is their powerful staff that has impressed Vegas clubbers. JET acquired the services of much sought after personnel from some of the city’s most highly respected venues including ICE, Tabu, RA, Body English and others.

Not to be undermined, the technical advancements at JET set the stage for the next generation of nightclub with their MANY huge plasma screens located throughout.

INsider: Stephen Lockwood was brought over from RA ( Luxor ) to become the Special Events Manager for Jet. Stephen’s name may not be familiar, but he is the mastermind behind Ra’s now infamous A/V Night with MTV’s DJ Rooney (A/V and DJ Rooney were both nominated for Club World Awards). Many on the inside believe that JET’s investment into plasma screens throughout the club and hiring Lockwood are foreshadowing a future A/V style party at JET...and this indeed proved to be the case as A/V was recently released at Jet over Memorial Day Weekend

VE! Review: JET's sister club Light is famous for their door, both positive and negative. They have a very NY feel to the chaos that occurs out front every night. Everyone in the industry knows that chaos is good in driving energy throughout the casino and enticing people to see what the fuss is about. The original Studio 54 in NY in the 70s made this a precedent and the theory works. Light operates under this theory and they certainly bring it to JET as well.

Ambiance - JET is a gorgeous club and extends its hospitality to many famous celebrities, giving them areas where they can feel a part of things, yet still be secluded enough from the rest that they experience the club as it was meant. In fact, the night we were there, Michael Jordan and his crew were hanging just off one side of the dance floor. The front room pumped house and the back room dropped it like it was hot with hip hop (which is where I found my staff)..you could tell the main room had Scotty Boy in the house due to the mash-ups he was spinning. Overall JET is laid out just like Light (even the bathrooms are in the same place), but everything is larger and flanked by two side rooms. Good concept that works, but not new.
